Paraná begins second phase of operation against greening
Initiative aims to guide producers, detect outbreaks and eradicate symptomatic plants in the Ribeira Valley region
The 2025/26 corn harvest has begun gradually in Rio Grande do Sul. Sowing is progressing in regions with a lower risk of frost. The dry climate, combined with rising soil temperatures, favors plant establishment. This information is from Emater/RS.
In the Western Border, producers are accelerating their work. In São Borja, approximately 4.500 hectares have already been planted. In Maçambará, 750 hectares have been planted, with a focus on irrigated areas. This early planting is intended to reduce the risk of drought during the crop's reproductive period.
In the Ijuí region, planting is progressing rapidly, especially in the municipalities of the Celeiro Region. In other locations, producers are waiting for warmer temperatures to begin work. Many are completing chemical management with herbicides.
In the Northwest, approximately 40% of the planned area has already been planted. The earliest crops show good emergence and establishment. So far, there have been no reports of leafhoppers, but ongoing monitoring is recommended.
In Erechim, producers use their own resources to plant their crops. This decision is due to the high costs of credit and agricultural insurance. In the region, the average price of corn for the malting industry reached R$85,00 per 60-kilogram bag.
In the Caxias do Sul region, planting begins in September. The area is expected to grow slightly. The producers' decision reflects favorable technical and economic conditions.
In the Lower Rio Pardo Valley, sowing is progressing rapidly. In Rio Pardo and Candelária, more than 40% of the planned area has already been planted. The selection of early-season cultivars and early planting are designed to avoid losses due to drought and excessive heat at the end of the year.
The statewide average price of corn paid to producers was R$62,37 per bag. This represents a 0,84% increase compared to the previous week. The highest price was recorded in Santa Rosa, at R$70,30.
