STJ publishes ten more theses on Environmental Law
New guidelines emphasize the State's responsibility, the importance of transparency and the right to compensation in cases of environmental damage
Data on financing from the Safra Plan in 2022/2023 show that producers in Rio Grande do Sul financed around R$831 million with Plan ABC+ technologies, of which R$269 million through Pronaf ABC+, R$202 million through Proirriga Program and R$360 million from the ABC+ Program. In total, 5.284 contracts were made by rural producers in Rio Grande do Sul using ABC+ Plan technologies. “These resources were enough to finance around 100 thousand hectares with sustainable production technologies in the 22/23 harvest year”, says the forestry engineer from the Department of Agricultural Development and Research of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (DDPA/ Seapi) and coordinator of the State Management Committee of the ABC+RS Plan, Jackson Brilhante.
He says that, among the technologies financed, it is possible to highlight the Integration Systems, with 21 thousand hectares (R$ 129 million); the Direct Planting System, with 17 thousand hectares (R$92 million); the Planted Forests, with 14 thousand hectares (R$ 57 million); the Irrigated Systems, with 13 thousand hectares (R$ 202 million); and 12 thousand hectares with Soil Management (R$ 52 million).
“In line with the ABC+ Program aimed at medium and large producers, there was an increase of 37% in the amount financed and 22,4% in the area with ABC+ Plan technologies in relation to the 2021/2022 harvest”, emphasizes Brilhante. According to him, the increase in the amount financed is associated with the increase in production costs and the expansion of areas with ABC+ Plan technologies.
“In this line of credit, around 10% of the resources were financed by the State. In the Proirriga credit line, which encourages irrigation, almost 30% of the resources were financed by producers from Rio Grande do Sul”, points out the forestry engineer. According to him, these results demonstrate the leading role of producers from Rio Grande do Sul on the national scene in adopting sustainable production practices that bring an increase and stability to the state's agricultural productivity.
“We understand that rural credit is an important tool to encourage the adoption of sustainable production technologies by producers and, thus, contribute to the goals of reducing emissions in the agricultural sector in Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil”, concludes Brilhante.
