​RiceTec is present at the largest rice convention in the Americas

RiceTec, Brazil's main company in the development and commercialization of rice seeds, was present at the Rice Market & Technology Convention, held in Miami, in the United States, which ended this Thursday, May 8th. With 16% of the Mercosur certified seed market, the company based in Porto Alegre (RS) was one of the sponsors of the event that addressed knowledge, technology and the latest innovations in the rice industry.

RiceTec's Marketing Director, Leandro Pasqualli, one of the event's speakers, spoke about the advances and perspectives of rice hybrids in the Americas. “We present the contribution and advances we made with our technologies in the last harvests in the Americas, highlighting the increase in productivity and quality of grains. As well as trends for the future with regard to upcoming advances in productivity, quality and new technologies for controlling difficult-to-control weeds such as red rice," he said.

Also part of the event's program was the Brazilian Rice project, an initiative by the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to encourage the participation of national rice in the foreign market. .

According to studies carried out in the United States, annually, the adoption of the hybrid in rice crops in the middle-south of the country brings an additional gain in annual revenue of US$ 5,89 million. Between the years 2003 to 2013, this value amounts to a revenue gain of US$76,24 million. The assessment is that in relation to the use of conventional seeds, producers had an annual cost reduction of around R$ 14,35 million with the application of agricultural pesticides in this ten-year period, in the sense that hybrid varieties are more resistant to pests and diseases that affect rice crops.
