​RiceTec and Adama form global collaboration for weed control solutions

Following the successful collaboration between RiceTec Sementes and Adama Agricultural Solutions in the United States, launched earlier this year, the two companies decided during a meeting in Tel Aviv, Israel, on June 21st, to extend the partnership to the global market, capitalizing on RiceTec's business units based in Asia and the Americas along with the multinational's expansion and export work, as well as utilizing Adama's comprehensive commercial platform in one hundred countries.

As part of the collaboration, RiceTec and Adama will work together to develop and commercialize herbicide-tolerant systems in rice. RiceTec will introduce herbicide-tolerant traits into its high-performance seeds and Adama will supply high-quality herbicides. With Adama's herbicide-resistant rice seeds, farmers will be able to benefit from new tools for weed control, providing a high level of protection for their crops.

Adama herbicides for rice have been tested on RiceTec seeds and demonstrated safe and effective weed control. The scope of the agreement includes the development of cropping systems tolerant to imidazolinone's and ACCase's, among other associated herbicides.

Adama's vice president of marketing and product strategy, Walter Costa, stated that the company is very happy to collaborate with RiceTec in expanding the herbicide offering for the rice market. "It is critical that the herbicide industry continues to deliver innovation and develop improved crop protection products and services for the farmer. Adama-RiceTec's offering will represent a complete crop management system, from seed to herbicide, which will help farmers to get the most out of each hectare of production", he highlighted.

RiceTec's global CEO, Mike Gumina, highlighted that the company works to revolutionize rice production and this partnership with Adama is naturally synergistic. "We are confident that our herbicide-tolerant seeds, combined with Adama's herbicides, will help farmers, and this global launch will benefit growers beyond the borders of the United States," he highlighted.
