Sugarcane productivity remains below average, says CTC
Raw material quality (ATR) is higher than that recorded in the same period of the last harvest
Rio Grande do Sul is close to reaching 50% of the sown area for the 2024/2025 rice harvest, according to a survey by the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga). Of the 948.356 hectares planned for the state, producers in Rio Grande do Sul have already sown 456.879 hectares (48,18%), taking advantage of the fact that the last few days have been without rain in most regions of the state.
Three of Irga's six regions have already surpassed 50%. The Western Frontier is the closest to completing the work. The region has sown 189.229 hectares to date, which corresponds to 67,21% of the estimated 281.542 hectares. The Internal Coastal Plain reached 82.148 hectares in the last few days, which represents 57,12% of the intended 143.825 hectares. The Southern Zone, the last to start sowing among the regions, has already reached 91.210 hectares sown, or 54,95% of the projected 165.986 hectares.
“We have made significant progress in the state this week in some regions. The South Zone is a good example. It was the last region to start sowing and today it has already sown more than 50% of the planned area”, analyzes the manager of Rural Extension (Dater) of Irga, Luiz Fernando Siqueira.
He also highlights the difficulties in the Central region, which has 16,24% of its area sown. “This region is still suffering greatly from the impact of the floods in May and many areas needed to be restructured. Not to mention the fact that, until now, producers have had few opportunities to work these areas and reorganize them, due to the rains in September and October in that area of the state, which made sowing difficult,” he concludes.
