Brazil is the world's largest producer of sugar cane, an activity of great importance for Brazilian agribusiness. Lucas Manfrin, Market Development Technician at Brandt do Brasil, recalls that according to information from the National Supply Company (CONAB), the estimate is just over 8.4 million hectares of sugarcane for the 20/21 harvest. And the increase in global demand for ethanol from renewable sources and sugar, combined with large cultivable areas and favorable soil and climate conditions for sugar cane, make Brazil a promising country for exporting this commodity.

Furthermore, according to the Sugarcane Industry Union (ÚNICA), the crop is present in 1,2% of the national territory, concentrated mainly in states in the Center-South and Northeast and involves 70 thousand producers, generating employment, income and development in around 30% of Brazilian municipalities.

Brandt's Market Development Technician highlights that in this sugar-energy universe, every year, pest control requires more energy and efficiency. Thus, the operation of cutting ratoon crops to apply insecticides to control some important soil pests has been fundamental and has gained definitive space in management.

“By taking advantage of this operation, biostimulants and rooters come into play, creating an opportunity to maximize varietal management, taking into account the interaction of genotypes and crop longevity, which provides quantitative and qualitative increases in production”, says Manfrin.

The operation must begin between 15 and 60 days after harvest, this being considered a phase of the beginning of tillering and formation of the clump. According to Lucas Manfrin, this period is regulated by hormones and results in the growth of shoots that move towards the surface. “This moment is very important, since the formation of the clump’s root system is the result of the development of the roots of each tiller.”

Therefore, in addition to great responsibility, there is an opportunity to supply energy, nutritional elements and growth hormones for energy storage and use in the rapid development of the plant.

Brandt takes advantage of this opportunity to generate productivity and offers producers two important technologies: Brandt Plant Start, a powerful hormonal precursor, which stimulates the plant to produce hormones with less energy expenditure, in addition to a complete chain of free amino acids for ready assimilation, helping to rapid rooting of plants. The solution also provides 364,5g/l of P2O5, in addition to N and K.

And BRANDT Complete, nutritional complex of macros and micros, together with precursors of enzymes and proteins, ensuring absorption with low energy expenditure and great support in tillering, avoiding plant mortality due to stress caused by biotic and abiotic factors and preserving their natural selection.
