Greening has grown in the citrus belt in the last year and is currently the biggest phytosanitary challenge for citrus farming. With the aim of preventing and containing the disease, the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (SAA) of São Paulo published a new resolution on greening, based on the ordinance of the Ministry of Agriculture that establishes the National HLB Prevention and Control Program (Ordinance MAPA/SDA nº 317, of May 21, 2021).

Resolution SAA 88, of December 07, 2021, brings complementary procedures to reduce the incidence of the disease in the state of São Paulo, such as:

- In commercial orchards, the eradication of greening plants remains mandatory in orchards up to eight years old, but becomes optional in orchards over eight years old, as long as psyllid control is maintained;

- Surveys to identify symptomatic trees and monitor and control the psyllid are mandatory on all properties with citrus and myrtle plants;

- The existence of commercial citrus properties without greening management is not permitted;

- It is mandatory to eliminate greening plants in backyards or non-commercial orchards.
