The Cocari Technology Center (CTC) in Mandaguari (PR) welcomed researchers Cláudia Godoy and Maurício Conrado Meyer from Embrapa Soja to evaluate tests on stem breakage in soybean crops. The partnership involves Cocari, other cooperatives and the ABC Foundation, with the aim of understanding the sensitivity of cultivars in Paraná and testing strategies, such as the use of fungicides, to mitigate the losses caused by the disease, which gained strength in the 2023/24 harvest.

Among the studies led by CTC, two trials stand out: one on the management of fungicides in the Fibra cultivar and another that analyzed ten cultivars for genetic resistance to the problem. “Even in adverse conditions, the central stem is generally not affected, which allows the grains to fill,” explains João Batallini, a CTC consultant.

The results, which will be released soon, promise to guide producers in choosing the best cultivars and management practices, promoting greater productivity and sustainability.
