The National Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio) was established by Law No. 13.576, of 2017, as an integral part of the national energy policy and constitutes an important vector of sustainability, especially in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in production, marketing and the use of biofuels.

What are CBIOs

Decarbonization Credits (CBIOs) are environmental assets issued by biofuel producers in an amount proportional to the efficiency rating of their certified production and the volume of biofuel sold. One CBIO is equivalent to one ton of greenhouse gases not emitted into the atmosphere due to the use of biofuel to replace fossil fuels.

They are sold by biofuel producers on the Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3) and acquired by distributors to meet their individual goals, or even by non-obligated third parties interested in acquiring CBIOs.
