Registration begins this Wednesday (22) for the new class of the Agribusiness Women's Leadership Academy, an initiative by Corteva Agriscience in partnership with Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC) and the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (ABAG). To participate in the selection process, simply access the link and fill out the form by April 30th. In total, there will be 150 places and classes will start on May 18th.
The course is free and comprises 46 hours of classes online and a face-to-face meeting in October, which will also include participation in the 5th National Congress of Women in Agribusiness, held by Transamérica Expo, in São Paulo. The training modules include classes on leadership, good agricultural practices, regulatory topics, political science, sustainability, new forms of governance, management and communication strategies.
“The first class at the Academy brought us very important lessons. There were 20 women who had their lives transformed and, at the end of the journey, impacted more than a thousand other women in their respective communities, strengthening female leaders. This is our main objective with the Agribusiness Women's Leadership Academy: to encourage female protagonism and encourage more and more women to occupy leadership spaces”, says Rosemeire dos Santos, Government Relations manager at Corteva Agriscience.
“For ABAG, it is extremely important to participate in a project that encourages female leadership in agriculture, a sector that is increasingly seeking gender equality in all pillars of the chain”, says Eduardo Daher, executive director of ABAG.
“The program is aimed at women in this important sector of the Brazilian economy, with the aim of encouraging them, increasingly, to occupy leadership spaces, having a positive impact, especially in the communities where they are located. FDC believes that diversity contributes to more inclusive and assertive solutions for the contemporary corporate world”, says Viviane Barreto, Director of Internationalization at FDC.
The project arose from the demand for more training activities that allow women access to leadership positions in the sector. According to a global survey carried out by Corteva Agriscience on female participation in agribusiness, in 2018, 80% of Brazilian women said they were interested in receiving more training and academic opportunities. The questionnaire included the participation of more than 4 thousand rural producers from 17 countries, of which 500 respondents were from Brazil.
