Registration for the X National Strawberry Symposium, a technical-scientific meeting with limited places that will take place in Atibaia between the 19th and 20nd of September, has been extended until September 22th.
The opening of the Symposium is scheduled for September 20th, at Estação Atibaia (Av. Jeronimo de Camargo, nº 6308, Vila Santo Antônio), starting at 18pm, continuing until 21pm. Continuing the event, on the 21st it will be the participants' turn to join the “Lecture Circuit”, with several experts, from 8 am to 17 pm, also at Estação Atibaia. Concluding the Symposium, on September 22nd there will be “Field Day”, at Parque Duílio Maziero (Campo dos Aleixos – Rodovia Edgard Máximo Zambotto, Km 77 – exit 87 of Rodovia Dom Pedro I), from 8am to 14pm, for participants check out the strawberry scene up close.
The National Strawberry Symposium, which reaches its 10th edition in 2023, is aimed at producers, technicians, students, teachers, researchers and representatives from the most varied segments of the fruit production chain. The program is full of activities that aim to contribute to the collection of farmers in the region, as well as inform and train rural producers who seek to grow with the cultivation of the fruit, which is a symbol and postcard of Atibaia.
Divided into panels, the round tables with experts will address topics such as challenges and opportunities in the production and marketing of strawberries, integrated production certification system, accreditation for organic strawberry production, management of pests, diseases, pollinators and agrochemicals, new cultivars, quality standards and legal aspects in seedling production.
The municipality was the first in Brazil to receive certification from PIMO (Integrated Strawberry Production), a process that aims to rationalize the use of pesticides, stimulate ecosystem balance and maintain the quality and safety of products.
Promoted by the City of Atibaia, through the Department of Agriculture, and by the Association of Strawberry and Fruit and Vegetable Producers of Atibaia, Jarinu and Region, the event is held in partnership with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).
