Agricultural and aquaculture products had their reference prices updated, taking into account the evolution of production costs and/or the average prices charged in the market. The prices set by Resolution of the National Monetary Council (CMN) on Thursday (18/08) will be in effect from the 2022/2023 agricultural year and serve for the purpose of calculating the values of marketing credits granted through Special Financing for Storage of Agricultural Products (FEE) and Financing for Producer Price Guarantee (FGPP).

FEE financing is intended for rural producers and individuals and legal entities dedicated to agricultural activities and the exploitation of aquaculture.

The FGPP is intended for cooperatives, agro-industries and other companies dedicated to the processing or industrialization of supported products, as long as they guarantee the payment of, at least, the reference price fixed to the producer.

Winter crop products for FEE include garlic, oats, canola, barley, sunflower and triticale. Oat, barley, sunflower and triticale seeds are also supported. Summer and regional crops include peanuts (grain and seed), sugar cane, cashew nuts, silk cocoons, guarana, castor beans (berries) and popcorn. Other products that had their prices adjusted were pineapple, acerola, banana, guava, sheep wool (Ideal and Merino, Corriedale, Romney and crosses and others), apple, papaya, mango, passion fruit, bee honey, strawberry, peach, live pig and industrial tomatoes.

Among the aquaculture products are the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei, carp, curimatã, lambari, curimbatá, matrinxã, oyster, pacu and patinga, panga, painted, cachara, cachapira, pintachara and surubim, pirapitinga, pirarucu, tambacu and tambatinga, tambaqui (over 2,5 kg), tilapia, trout and scallop.

The proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply was approved by the CMN in a meeting held this Thursday (18) and is included in the Resolution No. 5.036 (18/08/2022).

The CMN is a collegiate body chaired by the Minister of Economy and composed of the president of the Central Bank and the Special Secretary of Treasury and Budget of the Ministry of Economy.
