With the advance of the 2020/21 early orange harvest, large processors in the state of São Paulo are beginning to intensify the crushing of the fruit this month. For now, low volumes of the pear variety are processed, mainly due to the ratio outside the desired standard for juice production. Therefore, pear crushing should gain momentum from August and September, as the variety's harvest grows.
According to Cepea employees, at the moment, grinding takes place in seven units of the three large processors in São Paulo. Regarding negotiations in the segment spot, purchases are being made by just one of the large industries, with prices between R$ 21,00 and R$ 24,00/box of 40,8 kg, harvested and placed in the factory, with the value subject to changes over the course of season. However, these acquisitions are occasional, representing little volume when compared to contracted fruits.
