The rainy season that the country is going through at the beginning of the year is favoring the evolution of the main summer agricultural crops. In regions with the highest concentration of cultivation, such as the Center-West, Southeast, part of the South and Matopiba, the rainfall regime provided good crop development. The areas that still present negative anomalies due to the lack of rain are the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Piauí and Bahia. The analysis is from the latest Agricultural Monitoring Bulletin, released this week by the National Supply Company (Conab).

In the Center-West, the north of Mato Grosso begins to decline the Vegetation Index (IV) due to the beginning of the harvest, with rates below the historical average, but 2% above the last harvest. In the south of Goiás, crops continue to benefit from favorable climatic conditions, as well as in the southwest of Mato Grosso do Sul, which also has moisture in the soil to promote good recovery and development of crops and, consequently, an increase in vegetation index.

In the Southeast, the state of Minas Gerais presents good crop development and a predominance of areas with positive Vegetation Index anomalies, both in areas of the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba and the northwest of the state.

In the southern states, in Paraná there is good development in the main productive regions, while in Santa Catarina crops are evolving in a similar way to the last harvest. In the case of Rio Grande do Sul, which is suffering from the effects of irregular rainfall in the first fortnight of this month, the evolution of crops has been hampered especially in the northwest of the state.
