The ordinances with the Agricultural Zoning of Climate Risk (Zarc), crop year 20/2019, were published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Monday (2020), for the cultivation of soybeans in the states of Alagoas, Amapá, Roraima and Sergipe. The planting calendar in these regions begins in March or April, a period contrary to that recommended in other producing regions of the country.
The agricultural zoning of soybeans for Amapá and Roraima was carried out respecting the areas without forests, cerrado and deforestation until 2008. Based on the Prodes Project – satellite monitoring of deforestation in the Legal Amazon –, Embrapa verified the areas in which deforestation could occur planting, taking into account forest areas and the rules of the Forest Code.
Alagoas and Sergipe stand out for their potential for soybean production, so Zarc was renewed for the crop that will be sown in 2020, which confirms the approval of Mapa and Embrapa for this important production area.
Rural producers and other agribusiness agents can access through tablets and smartphones, in a more practical way, official information from Zarc, a tool used to guide the federal government's agricultural policy programs. The Zarc Plantio Certo mobile application, developed by Embrapa Informática Agropecuária (Campinas - SP), is available on the Android system.

Zoning aims to reduce risks related to climate problems and allows producers to identify the best time to plant, taking into account the region of the country, the culture, the recommended cultivar and the different types of soil.
The system considers elements that directly influence the development of agricultural production such as temperature, rainfall, relative air humidity, water available in the soil, crop water demand and geographic elements (altitude, latitude and longitude). Farmers are obliged to follow Zarc's instructions to contract resources from rural credit, family farming and rural insurance.
