In October 2024, a state emergency situation was declared in the municipality of Assis Chateaubriand, due to the prolonged drought that affected the region. The situation began in mid-November of the previous year and persisted until practically the first half of September 2024, causing significant impacts on local agricultural and livestock activities.

High temperatures and low rainfall levels directly affected soybean, corn, and wheat crops, as well as livestock farmers in the region, resulting in considerable damage and losses. According to data from Simepar, the Assis Chateaubriand meteorological station, the historical average rainfall expected for the period between November 2023 and August 2024 would be 1.240 millimeters of rain. However, records indicate that rainfall was only 733 millimeters, that is, 507 millimeters less than expected, which had a direct impact on agricultural and livestock activities in the region.

In view of this scenario, a State of Emergency has been declared in the areas of the municipality of Assis Chateaubriand, according to the disaster information form (Fide). In addition, the mobilization of all municipal bodies is authorized to act under the coordination of the municipal Compdec, in actions to respond to the disaster, rehabilitation of the scenario and reconstruction.
