The Granja do Torto Exhibition Park (PGT) will become the major agricultural development center in the central-west region. The park's restructuring plan for 2020/2021 is made up of seven macro projects aimed at growing the sector through technological innovation and attracting business to the DF. To date, investing companies have committed more than R﹩ 150 million to the project.

The plan focuses on the development of the agricultural segment through investments in technological innovation, research, personnel training, provision of services, production and marketing of inputs and genetic material. The PGT will host the CNA-SENAR University, of higher and technical level, and the Veterinary Hospital, the largest in Latin America for large animals, as well as a natural fertilizers and fertilizer industry. "The changes represent a major investment in education and stimulate the growth in the number of professionals and researchers in the area, generating employment and training specialized labor", assesses the CEO of PGT, Eugênio Farias.

The PGT, through the Mercado Agro project, will be a permanent sales center that will also host auctions, family farming fairs and competitions. "We have an area of 74 hectares that will be better used for the development of agriculture. The volume and production in the DF are not that large due to its small territorial extension. We must worry about productivity, cutting-edge representation. We are the federal capital, where decisions come from for the country and where those who want to do business in Brazilian cerrado agriculture come from," says Faria.

Another highlight will be the PGT Eventos project, whose structure will allow Brasília to host the largest exhibitions and events in the sector, such as Expoabra and Expocountry. The transformation of the spaces also represents an important improvement for other activities that are already carried out in the park, such as Brasília Capital Moto Week, the largest motorcyclist meeting in Latin America, which attracts thousands of tourists to the federal capital every year.

Social causes

In addition to boosting the DF's economy, the PGT will also strive to expand social actions. The National Association of Equotherapy (ANDE), which is located in the park, will have the capacity to meet, free of charge, its demand for equine therapy classes. A partnership between ANDE and the University of Brasília (UnB), already implemented at PGT, will bring science and applied research in search of greater results in the application of technology to improve equine therapy, through the ANDE and UNB Research Center, installed at PGT .

The events held at the location will also collect donations of food, coats and other necessities for the most vulnerable populations. Furthermore, actions in the park will promote family farming and small producers.
