Bill 2814/21 establishes a 15% tax on corn exports until December 31, 2022. The text, which is being processed in the Chamber of Deputies, authorizes the Executive Branch to change the rate by up to 10 percentage points throughout this period. period.

The author of the proposal, deputy Dr. Soraya Manato (PSL-ES), argues that the rise in corn prices in recent years has led many producers to prefer the foreign market, harming national supplies.

“In situations of scarcity or even lack of product to meet the food needs of the Brazilian population, it becomes justifiable to charge an export tax to regulate the market and allow the correct service to the domestic market”, states the deputy.
