This time, the increase was unanimous and had significant percentages, with the highest increase of 145% in Vitória (ES), followed by 127% in Goiânia (GO) and 105% in Belo Horizonte (MG). The data comes from the 11th Prohort Bulletin, released this Tuesday (20), by the National Supply Company (Conab), with the prices of fruits and vegetables in Ceasas last month.

According to the study, the price also almost doubled in the markets of Rio de Janeiro (99%) and São Paulo (91%). In two other markets analyzed, Fortaleza and Recife, the increases were not as significant, 45% and 15%, respectively. The statistical data collection was carried out at the Centers located in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, Vitória, Goiânia, Recife and Ceará.

Another vegetable with rising prices is onion, with an increase in almost all markets analyzed. The exceptions were Ceasa Goiânia (drop of 8,20%) and Fortaleza (drop of 0,68%). Potatoes followed the same line, with percentage increases ranging from 3% in Belo Horizonte to 36% in Rio de Janeiro/RJ. Even lettuce, which was in decline in September, proved to be more expensive, with the exception of the markets in Rio de Janeiro/RJ (down 4,71%) and in Fortaleza/CE (down 6,10%) .

The only thing that saved the domestic economies was the carrot, which saw a price drop in six of the seven markets considered in the analysis. The reduction was 10% in Ceasa/GO – Goiânia, 8% in Ceagesp – São Paulo and 6% in Ceasa/ES – Vitória.

In relation to fruits, bananas showed a general increase, while apples had small price increases in warehouses in the Southeast and specific variations in other centers. The turn now is for watermelon, which has seen a drop in prices in all Ceasas, and for papaya, which has become more affordable due to the greater supply of the product.

The survey is carried out monthly by Conab's Brazilian Horticultural Market Modernization Program (Prohort), based on information provided spontaneously by the country's large wholesale markets.
