Experts emphasize the importance of remineralizers for the country
Potential as an agromineral depends on chemical and mineralogical analyses; Benefits include cost reduction, reuse of mining by-products and improved climate
Registration is open for startups to participate in the 1st cycle of the “Sustainable Soya do Cerrado – promoting entrepreneurship and innovation for the production of deforestation-free soy” program. With the aim of bringing the Agro 4.0 world closer to environmental issues, the initiative aims to stimulate the development of new technologies, making them technically and economically viable for the sector.
The program is the result of an international partnership between the Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation (EMBRAPII), the innovation hub AgTech Garage, and the Land Innovation Fund – an international fund created with initial funding from Cargill and managed by Chemonics International to foster initiatives in favor of sustainable and deforestation-free soy.
Interested parties can register via the link bit.ly/SojaSustentavel_Cerrado and participate in the Roadshow on the 23rd, at 11 am, to answer questions about the program. More information at: bit.ly/Roadshow_SojaSustentavel
The selected startups will have access to strategic and technical mentoring, connections with executives from the AgTech Garage community, exchange of experiences with entrepreneurs and participation in events. In addition, they will be supported by a team of experts made up of members of partner companies focused on developing and scaling solutions that contribute to the Land Innovation Fund's objectives of promoting sustainability in the soy supply chain. Startups that stand out will be able to receive financial support for the development of solutions.
EMBRAPII will be responsible for bridging the gap between startups and entrepreneurs with the research centers (EMBRAPII Units), which will offer cutting-edge infrastructure and technical skills to develop the selected projects, in addition to co-financing the project with non-reimbursable resources.
The program will be developed in four cycles and has an initial resource of around R$2.2 million to support startups, with the possibility of an increase following the entry of new partners interested in supporting the innovation ecosystem for the sustainability of agribusiness.
Innovations may involve design, testing and implementation of technological solutions that bring intelligence, safety and sustainability to soybean agriculture in the Cerrado biome. Among the program's topics of interest are actions and solutions that combat deforestation and value income generation from the region's standing forest; sustainable land use; environmental services; environmental monitoring tools and methodologies.
In parallel, up to ten researchers from the Matopiba region (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia) will also be selected for a fellowship program aimed at developing agricultural innovation projects in cooperation with startups.
