The improper application of pesticides can cause losses for the farmer. Understanding the product formulation, the mixing process, the choice of spray tips and taking into account weather conditions are important factors for maximum sustainability and quality in applications. Researcher Dr. Rodolfo Glauber Chechetto, from Agroefetiva, in a lecture with rural producers from Sorriso and the northern region of Mato Grosso, spoke about Application Technology and discussed the use of all spray tips used during a harvest.

According to Chechetto, when talking about spray tips, it is possible to say that the conical jet nozzle and the flat jet nozzle (“fan”) are the main ones used in the country. “We provide a lot of guidance on their use due to the fact that they are preferred when using fungicide applications,” he suggested.

Regarding the process of combining products, the researcher reported that there is usually a recommended sequence for mixing through formulations. “A chemical study is carried out on the sequence in which they will be best diluted in the tank, so that there are as few physical incompatibility problems as possible. This sequence helps in everyday life to avoid this type of problem in a tank, which can result in the loss of products and time”, warned the researcher.

Regarding the most effective form of application – aerial or terrestrial – Dr Rodolfo explained that, although both forms have their particularities, the mixing order sequence is the same and must be observed with the same intensity. “On the plane, the products end up being a little more concentrated, because of the flow rate in liters per hectare used.”

Application technology was one of the topics that were debated during Open Sky Soja 2021, held this week at the Proteplan Research Station, in Sorriso - MT. The event followed all health protocols recommended by the WHO and had the support of several brands that believe in the progress of agribusiness: Adama, Basf, Bayer, Corteva, FMC, Grupo Vittia (Biovalens), Ihara, Oxiquímica, Sumitomo, Syngenta and UPL.

“Even if the producer is used to practice in the field, it is important to remember some processes, learn about formulations and new models that are arriving, where these new developments are most recommended and what precautions should be taken. Training is always valid. It is always important to recycle so that you can make the most of your applications”, concluded Dr Rodolfo Chechetto.
