Tomato producers in Paraná are receiving more per kilo sold. The salad variety (Italian) registered an 83% increase in prices in September, a trend that continued in October. With the harvest practically over in the state, the market is being supplied by the product originating in Goiás and São Paulo, where area reductions were recorded due to the discouragement caused by last year's low prices, which reduced supply, putting pressure on prices to up. The data is part of a monthly study carried out by the Conab Regional Superintendency in Paraná.

Sweet potatoes are another product that has become more expensive in the last month, with an increase of close to 26% per kilo sold. The adverse climate impacted production in one of the main regions producing this root, the interior of São Paulo. The occurrence of frosts in June and July and the lack of rain compromised the crops that were harvested in mid-August and September. The lower supply increased prices, which are expected to remain at this level in October.

In the opposite direction, rice prices fell. However, the devaluation is much less significant. The product purchased from producers in September was 3,72% cheaper due to lower demand from the industry. This drop, however, is not yet felt in retail. Research in supermarkets showed that consumers paid 5,17% more for cereal, driven by stronger demand in this segment.
