Professor Marcos Fava Neves receives the "Outstanding Agricultural Engineer Award for Citriculture" from IAC
Tribute takes place on June 6, at the Sylvio Moreira Citriculture Center, in Cordeirópolis (SP)
The president of Fundecitrus and the Citriculture Sector Chamber, Lourival Carmo Monaco, participated this Monday (3/6), at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), in Brasília (DF), in the National Conference of Sector Chambers and Themes.
Minister Tereza Cristina Corrêa da Costa Dias opened the event. She emphasized that the new procedure for the Sectoral Chambers, subsequently presented by the director of Studies and Prospecting, Luís Rangel, has as its main objective to make resolutions more efficient based on the requests of representatives from each segment.
In the afternoon, the minister received, in mini-hearings, the clusters (groups), which should present two topics relevant to each chain.
Monaco spoke about greening, emphasizing that regions still free from the disease must be alert due to the potential for destruction of orchards, with even irreversible damage to small producers.
He then mentioned the need for a national greening control program, suggesting joint efforts in the area of research.
Monaco also requested, through the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), support for exports, due to the drop in global consumption. And he highlighted that for the citrus value chain, sustainability is understood as the ability of each link to contribute to maintaining the sector's competitiveness, generating economic, social and environmental values, meeting market demands.
Mapa appointed the Secretary of Innovation, Rural Development and Irrigation, Fernando Camargo, as the ministry's interlocutor in the preparation of the research project to control greening and mechanical harvesting. The next meeting of the Sector Chamber will be on July 2nd.
