Climatic conditions favor the harvest of summer crops in RS
Agrometeorological bulletin released by the Department of Agriculture in partnership with Emater and Irga points to dry and cold weather in most of the state next week
With the coldest season of the year approaching, some plantations are extremely damaged. Cultivating more winter-hardy plants is not enough for them to grow healthy. Low temperatures require extra care to avoid crop losses.
Planning for winter planting involves preparing the soil, which tends to lose and become dry at this time. “It is essential that the implementation and initial development of the crop occurs properly. The secret to high productivity is to do the basics well, in winter to achieve maximum efficiency in summer, according to the System Fertilization concept”, says agronomist and soil specialist, Eduardo Silva e Silva.
Practice, over time, has proven that the use of mineral fertilizers, in winter crops and pastures, guarantees better performing soils. A reference on the market, the SulfaCal mineral fertilizer has a high concentration of soluble calcium and sulfur, and is suitable for all crops. “With the protective action of the macronutrients N-P-K (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium), in winter crops, there is a reduction in the risk of water stress and a greater chemical and physical balance of the soil. As a result, plant nutrition will be more balanced, as will pest control management. The result will appear throughout the cycle and, later, with high productivity in summer crops”, details Silva e Silva.
By improving soil conditioning and decompaction, SulfaCal granulated calcium sulfate provides rooting vigor, favoring greater water absorption and natural nutrient replacement. Furthermore, the product combats toxic aluminum and sodium content in the soil. This means there are better conditions for all stages of growth and a reduction in demand for chemical inputs.
In pastures, the macronutrients present in the mineral fertilizer SulfaCal promote an increase in the supply of fresh and dry pasta for animal nutrition, in addition to forage crops with greater regrowth potential and more palatable plants. According to the agronomist, “the consequence is protected soil and well-nourished animals which, at the end of the production chain, will result in the supply of superior quality meat”.
The raw material for SulfaCal comes from the municipality of Imbituba, in Santa Catarina, and produced by SulGesso, through its plant nutrition division, called MaxiSolo.
The mineral fertilizer was developed with technology with granulometry between 2 and 4 mm, which allows excellent uniformity in application, broadcast or in the line, low humidity and a significant increase in calcium and sulfur concentrations. SulfaCal is the only one made from 100% calcium sulfate, which makes it 150 times more soluble than limestone and compatible with other forms of fertilizers. It is recommended for use on family farming properties, to extensive areas of pastures and crops. “SulfaCal fertilizer came to help rural producers protect their greatest asset, the soil. It enhances the crop and its gains, with better results. It is a determining factor for a successful harvest”, concludes specialist Silva e Silva.
