The Secretariat of Environment and Water Resources (Semarh) released the 8th Climate and Fire Risk Bulletin, which covers data from October 24 to 30. The new report released by the Government of Tocantins brings data on variations in precipitation rates in the state. In the North region, rates fell, going from 81,0 mm to 3,8 mm. In contrast, the South region of the state experienced an increase in precipitation rates, which rose from 4 mm to 24,4 mm. In the Central region, the data show a slight increase, with rates going from 62,9 mm to 68,6 mm.
In the ranking of the 10 municipalities with the highest number of fire outbreaks recorded in the last week, the first three positions are occupied by Rio Sono with 30 outbreaks (7,8%), Goiatins with 16 outbreaks (4,2%) and São Bento do Tocantins with 14 outbreaks (3,6%), followed by the municipalities of Babaçulândia with 13 outbreaks (3,4%), Bom Jesus do Tocantins, Campos Lindos, Centenário, Palmeiras do Tocantins and Recursolândia each recorded 12 outbreaks (3,1%), and Paranã with 11 outbreaks (2,9%). In the next three days, the Bulletin indicates a trend towards a critical level of fire risk in areas concentrated in the northern regions of the State.
In the analysis of the distribution of fire outbreaks by micro-regions, in the period from October 24 to 30, the Bulletin points to the Jalapão region with 33,5%, Bico do Papagaio with 20,8%, Dianópolis with 14%, Miracema with 10,6%, Araguaína with 10,4%, Porto Nacional with 8,3%, Rio Formoso with 1,6%, followed by Gurupi with 0,8%. In October, 88% of the registered fire outbreaks have been occurring in areas under state control and the other 12% in areas under federal control.
Data from the Bulletin indicate that the rainfall recorded in recent weeks in Tocantins was not enough to raise river levels in the state's main river basins. Thus, the water situation remains critical in several regions, requiring attention and appropriate measures to face the challenges of drought.
