Paraná's agribusiness is facing a period of contrasts, as indicated in the economic report released this Thursday (8) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). While Brazilian exports of the soy complex grew in the first quarter of 2025, Paraná recorded a significant drop in the volume shipped. At the same time, the harvest of the second bean crop is advancing, putting pressure on prices and revealing changes in consumption.

Between January and March, Brazil exported 27,87 million tons of soybeans, slightly above the amount recorded in the same period in 2024. However, Paraná shipped 3,37 million tons, a decrease of 18,7% compared to the previous year. The main factor is the lower demand from China for Paraná soybeans, although there is an expectation of recovery with possible advances in trade relations between China and the United States.

The harvest of the second bean crop reached 22% of the planted area, with production exceeding 120 thousand tons in April. The highlight is black beans, whose supply put pressure on prices paid to producers: R$140,20 per bag on average in the month, a drop of 16% compared to March. Carioca beans, with lower availability, were traded for R$216,00, an increase of 6%. In retail, both types fell 3,6%, driven by the greater acceptance of black beans, which have still accumulated a 27% depreciation in the last 12 months.
