The Port of Navegantes, Portonave, celebrates 15 years of history on October 21st. Generating transformation, opportunities and growth in the region and the country, it directly employs more than 1 thousand professionals. And over these years, at least 1 million people were reached in social initiatives, more than 10 million TEUs moved and 8,2 ship calls received.
The company began operations in 2007, as the first private container port terminal in the country, located on the left bank of the mouth of the Itajaí-Açu River. Currently, it is the 2nd largest in container movement in the country and leader in the South region, according to Datamar. Since 2016, it has represented more than 50% of the market share in Santa Catarina and, currently, 13% in Brazil.
In September this year, it broke the all-time record for container movement in a single month, with 110,7 thousand TEUs handled. Access to the Gate also had a record number of trucks entering and leaving, with 2,6 in a single day. However, more than standing out in movement and productivity in operations, the company has always been committed to social action, environmental management and integrity.
This year, another 15 million were transferred by the port to the municipality through the Service Tax (ISS).
Over the past few years, 70 social projects have been supported related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), all operating in Navegantes, with some being perpetuated throughout Brazil and the world.
The initiatives are focused on education, sport, sustainability, environment and culture, among them are the Porto para Elas, Programa Embarque na Tecnologia, Projeto Nadar, Projeto Dançar e Brilhar and Somos do Mar.
Portonave is a national reference in customer service. In March, it was certified by the Ibero-Brazilian Institute of Customer Relations (IBRC) as the “Port with customers with the best experience and journey in Brazil”.
It also stands out for achieving ISO certifications, the most recent being ISO 37001, referring to the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption System, placing Portonave in a select group of 32 global companies in the IAF-31 segment (Transportation, Storage and Communication) with the recognition. In addition to having certifications 9001 – Quality Management, 14001 – Environmental Management System, and 45001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
Another significant achievement was the Authorized Economic Operator (OAS) certification in 2016, being the first port terminal in the country to meet the requirements of the World Customs Organization Committee (WCO) global program and obtain the title.
