The Employed Population (OP) in Brazilian agribusiness totaled 28,2 million people in the second quarter of this year, a record for the period, according to the Agribusiness Labor Market Bulletin, prepared by Cepea in partnership with CNA.
This performance represented a 0,5% increase compared to the first quarter of this year (139.010 more workers). According to the report, this performance was driven by growth in the primary, agribusiness, and agricultural input sectors.
Compared to the same period in 2024, the Employed Population registered a 0,9% increase (244.646 workers), with increases observed in all segments except the primary sector (from the farm gate inwards). With the second quarter result, the sector's share of total employment in the country was 26%.
The bulletin also shows an increase in the number of workers at the intermediate (3,4% or 371.051 workers) and higher (4,5%, or 201.987 workers) levels in the 2nd quarter of 2025 compared to the 2nd quarter of 2024.
In the same period, there was a drop in the number of workers without education (-8,5%) and basic education (-1,8%), which “showed the continued trend of increasing the average level of education in the sector”.
The growth in women's participation in the labor market occurred at a faster pace than that of men in the 2nd quarter of this year compared to 2024. In this period, female PO increased by 1,9% (203.093 workers), while male PO registered a growth of 0,2% (41.554 workers).
