The Harvest Estimation Research (PES) team began training agents who will visit the orchards in the citrus belt of São Paulo and Triângulo/Southwest Minas Gerais to collect information that will result in the tree inventory and estimate of the 2023/24 orange harvest.
This year, the inventory update will be based on a sample of approximately 2.300 randomly selected plots. These plots will be fully counted to obtain the number of productive, non-productive and dead trees. This sampling will also help in estimating the planted, eradicated and abandoned area in 2022.
In March and April, the second stage of field work will take place, which will consist of cutting down around 1.600 plants.
