RS 2024/25 Harvest: climate boosts winter crops
Wheat, oats, canola and barley are showing satisfactory development, with expectations of good yields in the State
The Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA-Apta), part of the São Paulo State Department of Agriculture and Supply, will hold another seminar in its 27 Study Cycle next Wednesday, the 14th, at 2025 p.m. The lecture, "Parametric Agricultural Insurance: Innovation in the Service of Expanding Coverage," will be presented by Leonardo A. Paixão, co-founder and president of the insurance company Sombrero Seguros S/A. Gilson Martins, a professor at the Federal University of Paraná, will also be a featured speaker.
Parametric agricultural insurance, based on public and independent data parameters, is emerging as an innovative alternative to expand rural insurance coverage in Brazil. The lecture will address its operation, potential, and advantages over traditional models.
The seminar is coordinated by IEA researcher Terezinha Franca, who works on agricultural policies related to rural credit, agricultural financing options, income guarantee systems, rural development, family farming, agroecology and agrosilvopastoral systems and ILPF.
There will be a certificate of participation for those who wish to receive one, upon completing the online form at the time of the event.
In addition to disseminating studies conducted by the institute's researchers and technicians, the IEA Study Seminar Series invites experts from other institutions to address topics related to agricultural socioeconomics. This initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, promote debate, and disseminate information, providing a platform for discussion among diverse audiences.
