Ordinance defines the standards for the National Seed and Seedling Registry

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) published this Wednesday (19) Ordinance No. 501, which establishes the rules for registration and accreditation in the National Registry of Seeds and Seedlings (Renasem). Registration is mandatory and all entities involved in the National Seed and Seedling System (SNSM) must be previously qualified to carry out their activities.

The Ordinance comes into force on November 1st and complies with Decree No. 10.586/2020, which sent to the supplementary standard the details, specificities and procedures for carrying out the registration and accreditation of all entities of the National Seed and Seedling System (SNSM), as well as for changes and renovations.

“The regulations aim to provide transparency and increase efficiency, mainly by bringing clarity and ease to service users and the technical body regarding the procedures to be adopted to meet the needs of the National Seeds and Seedlings System”, reports the coordinator- substitute general for Seeds and Seedlings, Leidiane Queiroz.

Renasem is the only registry, valid throughout the national territory. According to the rules, individuals and legal entities that carry out production, processing, repackaging, storage, analysis and trade of seeds or seedlings must register with Renasem, together with Mapa, and those carrying out the activities must be accredited. of technical responsibility, certification, sampling, collection and analysis of seeds or seedlings.

Registrations and accreditations now have a validity period of five years.

Consultation of records in Renasem is available to the public, through system access.
