A 100% natural orange juice biofortified with selenium and produced with Nutriduo technology, an exclusive product from ICL that provides zinc (Zn), magnesium (Mg) and selenium (Se): this will be the new feature presented by the company during Coopercitrus Expo 2023 In the form of a smoothie, it will refer to the fair's theme, 'The Producer's house', bringing back childhood memories. The event runs until July 28th.
Maria Lanza (in the photo), ICL's Market Development consultant, highlights that the importance of using solutions for the nutrition and physiology of plants with a focus on citrus will be the main topic covered by the company during the event. In addition to citrus, sugar cane and soy will be included in the theme, addressing high efficiency and technologies that aim to increase productivity, profitability and supply of essential nutrients for plants and humans.
“Citrus plants need macronutrients (N, P, K, Mg, Ca and S) and micronutrients (B, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Zn and Fe) to complete their life cycle, that is, to maintaining their growth and development, and, therefore, the use of these nutrients via soil and foliar are essential to maintain vigorous and productive plants. But, in addition to productivity, an adequate nutritional balance is also essential for the quality of citrus, which is a factor that guarantees the producer's profitability, since parameters such as juice content, sugar percentage, acidity, fruit size and characteristics physiological characteristics of the shell are crucial to serving the target market”, he explains.
Currently, one of the major problems encountered in agricultural production is ensuring the productivity and quality of food produced in adverse environments, whether due to the presence of pests and diseases, or climate instability.
“In agriculture in general, we have predicted a year with the strong presence of El Niño, a phenomenon that could cause irregular rains in the coming months. Therefore, the farmer will continue to have to deal with climate unpredictability and focus on correct crop management. In this sense, nutritional and physiological management is essential for maintaining vigorous, productive plants that are less susceptible to pests and diseases, which is one of the citrus growers’ main concerns today,” he recalls.
Another highlight of the company during the event will be the reception of students from municipal schools in Bebedouro (SP), offering biofortified orange juice and a lecture on the importance of agriculture and the supply of nutrients for human nutrition. “The action aims to demonstrate in a playful way the process of obtaining minerals through food, from soil preparation to commercialization. We believe that the dissemination of this information will contribute to the formation of more selective consumers in terms of food quality, as well as to advances in combating nutritional deficits and increasing healthier eating”, he concludes.
