The online edition of Open Field Day, an event held annually by Agristar do Brasil and a reference for the year's launches for horticulture seeds, ended last Thursday exceeding the company's expectations. Around 6 thousand people from all over the country and abroad participated live, following and interacting with experts from each culture.
This year, among the new features brought by the company, is the 360º Tour which allows virtual visits to the Santo Antônio de Posse (SP) Experimental Station field prepared for the event. According to the Director of Product Development, Maurício Coutinho, both the online event and the tour are complementary ways of bringing information to producers, especially those more distant and from other countries.
“During the pandemic our work did not stop, the stations continued with almost 100% of their capacity, with screenings, product selections and the result we brought here: 23 products launched, 10 of which were innovative and will certainly be successful in a near future. Our post-pandemic expectation is that there will be a recovery in the economy, with the return of consumption further boosting the sector”, explained Coutinho.
The entire event also remains available on Agristar YouTube divided into cultures: Bulbs and Roots and Cucurbits, Brassicas and Hardwoods and Green Belt e Tomatoes and Peppers.

Experts from each crop participated by presenting the releases, talking about their positioning and management, and answering questions from producers who participated live in the lives. The varieties that were highlighted were Nevasca cauliflower and Evimeria tomato, from the Superseed line, and Sun watermelon, Frisby and Luminosa lettuces, Coimbra coriander, Canarana onion, Garra and Arezzo tomatoes, from the Topseed Premium line. “The event was of great value to us, in addition to presenting this year's launches, we also reaffirmed with the public our successful products, such as Furusato pumpkin, Montesina onion and Pandora carrot. Furthermore, we are bringing a renewed Superseed, with a new positioning and a new force, TSV Sementes, with its product portfolio and commercial team. This union of the Superseed and TSV lines will enable us to work with a larger team in the field, willing to serve the whole of Brazil”, explained Commercial Manager Douglas Machado.
“For us, the event was a success, with the Topseed Premium line being represented by its customers, our own team, distributors from all over the country, with many questions about our launches and other products with good market share and which are growing. .”, detailed Commercial Manager, Anderson Moreira.
With the proposal to further enrich the Open Field Day and bring knowledge to producers, the event was also attended by the Plant Breeding manager, André Mattedi and product research and development assistant Carolina Franco, speaking respectively about the improvement of tropical carrots and lettuce, and also with researchers Alice Nagata and Alice Maria Quezado, both from Embrapa Hortaliças, explaining some diseases that make it difficult to plant tomatoes.
