Five presidents of the American company Albaugh who operate in strategic regions of global agribusiness visited Brazil in recent days. Received by the president of the local unit, agronomist Renato Seraphim, the group came to reinforce its commitment to the country's agribusiness with customers and partners, in addition to monitoring Albaugh's results in the Brazilian market in the first quarter, the numbers of which will be known in the next days.
According to Renato Seraphim, the arrival of the 'board' also marked the consolidation of Albaugh's business strategy for Brazil in the coming harvests. “We will continue to be anchored in a bold model of partnership with farmers. Our objective is to revolutionize the generic agricultural pesticides market, by offering a high-quality portfolio, competitive in terms of prices and capable of boosting the farmer's profitability”, summarizes Seraphim.
During their visit to Brazil, regional CEOs Douglas Kaye (Europe), Cesar Rojas (Argentina), Pablo Díaz Toledo (Mexico) and Spencer Vance (USA), as well as Brazilian Seraphim, completed an intense agenda in the Cerrado, accompanied by the president and global vice presidents, Kurt Kaalund and Stuart Feldstein, respectively, and executives from the areas of marketing, finance, legal and production.
The group visited soybean areas in Mato Grosso and interacted with referenced producers and distributors, such as the reseller Agrológica. The itinerary also included a visit to Agrigenetica Land, a company specialized in the production of non-transgenic hybrids. In a meeting with researchers Marcio Goussain and Fabiano Siqueri, the board discussed the current scenario and history of soybean rust in Brazil, as well as technological solutions to control this disease that Albaugh hopes to launch in the country.
Present in the Brazilian agricultural pesticides market for just two years, Albaugh is among the companies that grew the most in this sector in the period, with an increase in share from 1,5% to 2,4% and revenues of US$200 million in 2017. By 2021, Albaugh expects to earn over US$500 million in the country. The Brazilian unit also wants to jump from the current 9% to 25% of participation in the company's business worldwide.
President Renato Seraphim believes that the strategy of setting up a network of brand distributors and keeping it close to the farmer is among the reasons that explain the company's rapid advancement in the country. “Instead of selling directly to the producer, we use the distributor as a platform to deliver high-quality, low-cost products,” he explains.
Based on a study by the international consultancy Ibisworld, Seraphim projects that within five years 80% of the agrochemical portfolio available in Brazil will be made up of generics. “By then, at least two dozen compounds currently sold as specialties will lose patents, opening up business opportunities worth around eight billion dollars”, concludes the executive.
Founded in the United States in 1979, Albaugh is a global company present on 4 continents, with 3 thousand employees. Albaugh produces and distributes a broad portfolio of generic agrochemicals, aimed at the main agricultural crops. Anchored on offering high-quality inputs at attractive prices, Albaugh is revolutionizing the generic agrochemicals market. Your brand is already perceived in Brazil as a strategic partner in farmer profitability. Headquartered in the city of São Paulo, Albaugh maintains an industrial plant in the city of Resende (RJ).
