Apple has cold perception mechanism, scientists discover
Discovery by researchers from Embrapa Uva e Vinho (RS) paves the way for the development of apple trees that need fewer cold days to produce
On the 22nd and 23rd of May, the Idea group will hold the 18th Herbishow, a seminar on weed control in sugarcane, which takes place in Ribeirão Preto, at the Ribeirão Shopping Events Center. On the occasion, the Australian company Nufarm presents its line of agrochemicals for the management of invasive plants in sugarcane fields, in addition to the results of relevant studies carried out in the field around the herbicide Tractor, a product that is applied to the straw of sugarcane crops .
On the 22nd, at 10:45 am, agronomist Celso Luiz da Silva discusses benefits and differences linked to the herbicides Crucial, Tractor and Sumyzin 500 SC. Crucial, according to Nufarm, is a glyphosate-based herbicide known for its speed in the drying out of ratoon crops, before the renewal of sugarcane fields, while Tractor stands out for its selectivity and action in pre- and post-emergence of difficult-to-control plants. Meanwhile, Sumyzin 500 SC, adds Nufarm, is another product with a broad spectrum of action on invasive plants, a problem with sugarcane.
Still on the 22nd, at 10:55 am, the researcher from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Unesp in Botucatu, Caio Carbonari, shows the results of his work ‘Analysis of the behavior of the Tractor herbicide applied to sugarcane straw’. According to the researcher, the Tractor herbicide reaches the desired target and manages to take a pre-emergence active ingredient through the sugarcane straw, “something that would not be possible without the use of the combined 2,4D + Plicoram”, he highlights.
“Sugar cane cultivation is strategic to Nufarm’s business in Brazil. We see the event in Ribeirão Preto, which is among the most important in the sugar-energy sector in the technical area, an opportunity to expand knowledge about the cutting-edge technologies distributed by Nufarm in the country with a view to improving the quality of sugarcane raw material -sugar”, summarizes the company’s executive marketing director, Fernando Manzeppi.
