Australian Nufarm launches a solution to control whiteflies in several crops in the country. According to the company, the management solution is anchored in the application of the insecticides Carnadine and Epingle, products from the company's portfolio. The first, recently launched, aims to control whiteflies in their adult phase. The second acts on the initial evolutionary stages of the insect: eggs and nymphs, in addition to sterilizing adult females, as noted by Nufarm.
Experts attest that the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) At this time of year, it finds favorable conditions to develop soybean and cotton crops in different regions of the country, among other crops. For researchers, whitefly monitoring must be permanent, as the sooner the pest is detected, the more effective its control by the farmer tends to be during the harvest.
“It is a pest with high devastating power in soybean and cotton crops. If it is not properly controlled, with insecticides that break its reproductive cycle, whiteflies have the potential to cause significant losses in crops”, highlights Alexandre Manzini, agronomist and product manager at Nufarm.
According to Manzini, the new Carnadine is currently the only acetamiprid-based insecticide on the Brazilian market sold in a liquid formulation. He adds that the product is registered for 9 crops, including soybeans, corn, cotton, wheat, potatoes and tomatoes. Nufarm also recommends that Carnadine applications occur when the pest occurs.
The insecticide Epingle, says Manzini, is formulated based on Pyriproxyfen and is registered for 13 crops, such as soybeans, cotton, coffee, citrus and beans. “It is ideal that product applications are made at the beginning of the whitefly infestation, as soon as the presence of the pest in its initial egg or nymph stages is detected.”
“Both products complete Nufarm’s portfolio of solutions for whiteflies. The complementary action of Carnadine and Epingle gives producers security in managing pest resistance”, concludes the executive.
