Nouryon has reformulated its area focused on agribusiness. The company, which works with solutions for various sectors, such as cellulose, mining, personal care, cleaning, polymers, civil construction, among others, sees the possibility of increasing growth in the field.

During the pandemic, Brazilian agribusiness has been responsible for breaking export records and, according to experts, avoiding a greater drop in the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Brazil has regained its position as the world's largest soybean producer and is expected to harvest, in total, 247,4 million tons of grains in the harvest that will end this year - an increase 2,5% compared to 2019.

In this scenario of good numbers, Nouryon redoubles its attention to the sector, offering a portfolio of products for the areas of Agrochemicals, Human Food and Animal Food.

“Chemical technology is present in everything, including field activities. That is why we are attentive to the needs of agribusiness, seeking to develop solutions that help the production chain to be more efficient”, comments Gunther Zaremba, director of Performance Formulations at Nouryon for South America.

Adjuvants and additives prevent losses and improve productivity in agriculture

Adjuvants are substances added to the formulation of agricultural pesticides. They improve the application of pesticides through different mechanisms, such as moistening, spreading, penetration and retention, increasing the effectiveness of pest control. Additives help to stabilize the formulation, preventing sedimentation or crystallization, for example.

“Adjuvants are essential compounds to ensure productivity in crops. This is because this type of product allows the pesticide, when sprayed, to spread and have greater adhesion on the surface of the leaf, creating a type of protective film. If the plant is better protected, the producer runs less risk of losses from pests and weeds. Furthermore, it provides better absorption of nutrients by the plant that are present in the formulation being applied”, explains Gunther Zaremba.

According to the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), the addition of an adjuvant allows, in some cases, to reduce the dose of herbicide by more than 50%, compared to solutions without the product.

With a broad portfolio of adjuvants, dispersants, emulsifiers, solvents, micronutrients and other solutions for the market, Nouryon's product lines have proven performance in bioefficacy and yield.

Recently, the company launched Agrilan 1015, a biodegradable dispersant that can replace less sustainable products in water-based crop protection and seed treatment formulations. The Agrilan 1015 is an alternative to commercially available dispersants, which have increasingly undergone detailed investigations by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and other regulatory bodies for their environmental effects.

Still in the countryside, Nouryon operates in livestock farming, producing salt, minerals and emulsifying technology for the feed industry. Producers have greater flexibility to choose liquid and dry raw materials, in addition to safe and effective hydration, being able to produce pelleted feed with high nutritional quality.

Pelleting is a steam and compression treatment process, which makes the ingredients adhere well. This way, waste is avoided and there is less risk of contamination, ensuring a balanced diet for the animals.
