New cultivars of iceberg lettuce appear on the horizon
Research aimed at obtaining new varieties, now focusing on iceberg lettuce, has been presenting results that are considered quite promising.
The International Wheat Industry Congress, held by Abitrigo (Brazilian Wheat Industry Association), whose theme will be "New strategies for a new scenario", is now open for registration. The 26th edition of the event will be held between the 22nd and 24th of September, in Campinas (SP).
The international vision of wheat, a sensitive point in the milling chain, will be discussed, with the presence of experts from strategic markets for the Brazilian industry, such as Argentina, the United States, Russia and Paraguay, in a panel moderated by ambassador Rubens Barbosa, executive president of the entity.
The diplomat will also moderate a debate on the impacts of the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union on agribusiness. Announced at the end of June, the measure brought great expectations of growth for the sector, at a time when the Brazilian economy remains stagnant.
Macroeconomic scenario
The current macroeconomic situation and its challenges for wheat will be discussed at a round table in which important names from the international commodities and industrial markets will be present.
The event will also address regulations and trends for the wheat market, as well as changes in Brazilian consumption habits and their impacts on the growth of this segment.
"The Congress is a unique opportunity for the market and experts to debate topics relevant to the value chain, finding together solutions to challenges that could slow down the growth of the national wheat market", concludes Rubens Barbosa.
