FMC presents solutions to combat caterpillars and bedbugs at the Rural Digital Show
In its debut episode, FMC talks about solutions developed to control and manage bedbugs, caterpillars and weeds
The new Tramontini Antonio Carraro 5800 Series mountain tractor has just arrived on the Brazilian market. The 50 hp supercompact adapts to different requirements and meets the specific needs of orchards, vineyards, coffee plantations, poultry farms, etc.
The official launch took place during a live broadcast on social media, on March 22nd, directly from the Tramontini Máquinas factory, in Venâncio Aires (RS), a company from Rio Grande do Sul that represents the exclusive representative of Antonio Carraro in Brazil.
One of the differentiators of the 5800 Series multifunctional tractor is its reversibility. In an easy and practical way, the operator himself can, in a quick action, even while working in the field, rotate the "cockpit", reversing the seat, panel, steering and pedals, without having to maneuver the tractor to continue the service, according to the labor demand.
The new compact, with a Yanmar 50 HP engine, has the same rear transmission previously used only in more powerful tractors, with engines from 70 HP to 90 HP. The gearbox is synchronized, with 24 speeds, 12 forward and 12 reverse (with optional 32 speeds), with synchronized inverter. “It has more ballast and robustness, it is a hybrid between two other product models, the TN Major 5800 and the TRX 7800”, explains the technical and After-Sales manager, Jardel Bittencourt. The hydraulic system has a 16 cubic cm pump, which provides a flow of 43 liters per minute. It also comes with an oil cooler, an innovative item for a tractor of this size.
“Another new feature is the economical power take-off option (TDP), which the operator can select in a situation where there is no demand for so much power. This should result in fuel savings when working, under normal conditions”, adds Bittencourt. “To activate the PTO, simply press an independent button located on the vehicle’s dashboard. It’s easy to do and simple to turn off.”
Still on the panel, there is the rear-wheel drive lock option, which can be activated at any time, with the simple touch of a button, even in risky situations. The front axle lock remains pedal-operated.
Tramontini Antonio Carraro mountain tractors are compact, low and have stability when traveling over rough terrain and ease of movement in vineyards and between fruit orchards, situations that are very common in regions such as Serra Gaúcha. Some features are present in all the brand's models: they are isodiametric, with tires of the same size, which means they truly have 4 x 4 traction. They also have a low center of gravity, with the weight distributed at the height of the wheels.
The "ACTIO" system allows them to work with 15 degrees of horizontal articulation between the front and rear axles, which means that all wheels remain on the ground, even on rough terrain. Additionally, they have front and rear locking.
Tramontini's commercial manager, Everton Coutinho, explains that the possibility of carrying out maneuvers in reduced spaces has been opening up new markets. “Our tractors have greater agility in maneuvering with a very small turning radius, which is why, in addition to perennial crops, we are well entering the poultry production market. There is a demand to handle very heavy implements inside poultry houses, which are huge, but there was no suitable tractor. Our machine is not magic, it is the result of a very thoughtful engineering process. It offers security and makes the producer’s work easier, even in risk situations, which is a differentiator.”
With a reinforced structure, despite being compact, the new 5800 Series model has an average weight of 2200 kg. And, even with ballast, it maintains the characteristic of less weight in the back and more weight in the front, supporting up to 3,5 tons of ballast, with implements, due to its rear robustness, allowing the operator to adapt the weights to their work profile.
“When the operator, for example, places a sprayer or a trailer, the entire platform is on the ground. It is a great tool for maintaining work, usually in uphill or mountainous places. All this without compacting the soil, but making all work in the field easier”, explains Bittencourt.
Technicians also highlight that while a conventional agricultural tractor operates, at the limit, at 12 degrees of inclination, tractors of this model can be used in places with up to 25 degrees of inclination and offer total safety.
Regarding spare parts and maintenance, Tramontini states that the company is prepared to fully meet any customer need. Furthermore, the company's engineering department is already working on the development of national components that are gradually being added to Italian tractors.
The new Tramontini Antonio Carraro Series 5800 tractor also brings an advantage in vehicle inspections. The first, lasting 50 hours, is offered free of charge by Tramontini itself. The second, with 200 hours and the third, with 400 hours, are just for the engine, which means a much lower cost. The transmission overhaul, with the change of some filters and distribution oils, will only be necessary after 600 hours of use. In the next 2 revisions, only the engine inspection will continue and so on.
The partnership between the century-old Italian company, world leader in the sale of mountain tractors, and the Brazilian company Tramontini was closed in 2016, and the first sales began the following year. The structure comes ready from Italy and part of the assembly is completed at the Venâncio Aires (RS) factory. Tramontini has all spare parts available, some of which are brought from Italy and several local components are already being developed, resulting in a reduction in costs. More than a tractor, Tramontini claims that it sells a concept, which is why it takes such great care with after-sales.
With trained professionals, it directly serves producers in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais, where it has the largest operations. With almost 1.000 machines sold, it is understood to be continuous work that will certainly bring more and more fruits to the Brazilian market and to farmers, with productivity gains and greater comfort and safety for operators.
