During the CNH Industrial Tech Day, New Holland presented the T4 Electric Power, a fully electric utility tractor with autonomous features. Ideal for low power operations, it paves New Holland's path to electrification.
"The T4 Electric Power is the result of our extensive research and investment focused on electrical solutions in agriculture, supported by CNH Industrial. With this new multi-purpose tractor, we have added an important piece of the puzzle to our complete coatings strategy, providing our customers the ideal electric tractor for lower power operations: a highly economical, carbon-neutral solution and perfectly suited for mixed farms, livestock, municipality, orchard and special applications," explained Carlo Lambro, president for the New Holland Agriculture brand.
T4 Electric Power was developed by CNH Industrial's team of experts in the USA (Burr Ridge, Detroit) and Italy (Modena) in collaboration with Monarch Tractor (based in California, USA).
The design prioritized two key features: battery runtime and performance, while maintaining a sustainable approach that would reduce the machine's emissions, noise levels and its overall environmental impact.
The tractor's battery offers excellent runtime, up to a full day of use, and can be recharged in just one hour with fast charging systems. The machine can also be used as a backup power source for other devices and machines, or to supply power to implements.
The noise level has been reduced by up to 90% and vibration has also been substantially attenuated. T4 Electric Power meets strict noise standards set by municipalities, allows nighttime operation and improves livestock welfare, especially when working inside covered areas such as a barn.
The new T4 Electric Power offers excellent performance with great control and responsiveness compared to a diesel machine, along with significant operational and maintenance cost savings, and a neutral carbon footprint. During tests, the T4 Electric Power showed great responsiveness, with efficient performance, great traction control and smoothness when closing and changing gears, making driving a pleasure. Testing has also shown a reduction in operating costs of up to 90%, as well as the elimination of diesel fuel costs and associated maintenance fees.
"We are proud to introduce this complete electric tractor into the utility segment. We believe this technology is ideal for lower power machines, like this new T4 Electric Power. These alternative energy sources are already here and very soon will be available for farmers around the world buy for a more sustainable future," added Oscar Baroncelli, Head of Tractor Management and Telehandler Product Management New Holland Agriculture.
"The T4 Electric Power is the ideal solution for lower power operations", concluded Marc Kermisch, General Director of Digital & Information at CNH Industrial.
CNH provided the following technical data about T4 Electric Power:
• E-motor power: Up to 120 hp;
• Maximum torque: Up to 440 Nm;
• 4-wheel drive: Try;
• Maximum speed: 40 km / h;
• Zero Emissions: "Ever".
When questioned, until the closing of this article the company did not inform when it intended to offer the tractor.
Update on 14/12/2022: "commercial production should begin at the end of 2023" and "commercial launch is expected within 24 months."
