The National Supply Company (Conab) launches, this Tuesday (01/02), a new mobile application aimed at the warehouse sector: the Storage Discounts. The app promises to help the country's rural producers calculate and identify important costs in advance to better negotiate the tariff to be paid to warehouses contracted to store their products.
The app is free and can be downloaded from the Play Store. Initially, it is aimed at smartphones with the Android system, but there are already plans to make the IOS version available soon. The result of a partnership between Conab and the National Storage Training Center (Centreinar), the app was developed collaboratively to assist in calculating discounts during the storage of grains/cereals, already considering the degree of impurity, humidity and technical breakage .
“This delivery to producers who use storage, of an application that shows in a simple and direct way the discount obtained when their product breaks down during storage, will certainly increase their ability to negotiate prices for the services they receive”, guarantees the president of Conab, Guilherme Ribeiro. “The availability of this tool is also part of an important purpose in the Company’s mission, which is to provide agricultural intelligence.”
The application was designed to provide the necessary results for better understanding by the user, who can even choose whether the calculation results will be presented in tons, percentages, or even in reais. This is necessary because the product from the cultivation area normally has impurity and moisture levels higher than those recommended for marketing, storage or processing.
The idea for creating the app arose from Conab's desire to provide greater support to the storage market and provide broad transparency to the sector. “Warehouse customers, especially rural producers, had constant doubts about the methodology of discounts charged by private companies”, explains Conab's Warehousing Superintendent, Stelito Reis. “Now, with the App, they can determine this quantity easily, quickly and safely.”
The app's breadth of action was also highlighted by the Company's Director of Operations and Supply, José Trabulo Júnior. “A positive point of the application is that it allows for transparency of information that can help both large and small producers”, he highlights. “Those who have less access to information end up at a disadvantage in negotiations. And this selection capacity motivates both the increase in demand and the specialization of supply, since competition can generate more development for the warehouse sector.”
