Embrapa Soja promotes 23rd National Sunflower Research Meeting (RNPG) and the 11th National Symposium on Sunflower Culture on October 20th and 21st, in digital format. The program will include broadcast of recorded lectures and live debates, with the possibility of interaction with the speakers. Entries are available here
The objective of the RNPG is to discuss research results and technical recommendations for the production of sunflower crops, define priorities and establish partnerships for research and technology transfer in sunflower in different regions of Brazil.
The event aims to address topics related to fertility management in sunflower production systems, weed control, phytosanitary management, commercialization scenarios and climate perspectives for the 2020/2021 harvest. “The dissemination of information on all aspects of the sunflower production chain provides technological support for the evolution of the crop and can help the producer to obtain better productivity and competitive economic returns”, highlights Vicente de Paulo Campos Godinho, researcher at Embrapa Rondônia and president of the event.
The event also includes the submission of scientific works, which will be published in digitized PDF format. More information at website of the event.
The sunflower
According to Conab, Brazil sowed 62 thousand hectares of sunflower in the 2018/19 harvest and produced approximately 105 thousand tons of the grain. Sunflower cultivation is an agricultural alternative for crop diversification, and there is also demand for high quality oil.
