Having a place prepared to receive and correctly dispose of empty pesticide packaging helps rural producers with good sustainable practices, helping to protect the Environment. An example of this work is Mr. Miguel Leandro Hoffmann, producer of Lucas do Rio Verde (350 km from Cuiabá). He says that he is careful to correctly dispose of 100% of what he buys, be it packaging of agricultural pesticides or other products that make up reverse logistics.
"It is a pleasure to do our part, produce food and take care of the environment, with the correct disposal of packaging. I proudly celebrate the results achieved through joint action”, emphasized the producer.
Annually, on August 18th, National Clean Field Day (DNCL) is celebrated, dedicated to the correct disposal of agricultural pesticide packaging. With the theme "Celebrating Everyone's Achievements Together", the 18th edition brings together producers, manufacturers, distributors, production sector entities and public and private organizations that celebrate together the results of the Campo Limpo System with the implementation of the DNCL -Sustainability category .
To mark the date and reinforce community awareness, the Rio Verde Technological Research and Development Foundation (Fundação Rio Verde), in partnership with the State Council of Agricultural Product Resellers Associations of Lucas do Rio Verde (Cearpa-LRV), promotes a series of actions, such as lectures at teaching units, donation of seedlings and tributes to producers.
The initiative is part of the reverse logistics program for empty packaging and post-consumer leftovers of agricultural pesticides, created by the National Institute for Empty Packaging Processing (INPEV). A global reference in the environmentally correct disposal of this material, Brazil sends more than 94% of the primary plastic packaging of agricultural pesticides sold throughout the country.
The Rio Verde Foundation has been carrying out this work since 1999, in the municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde, becoming the third Empty Packaging Receiving Center in the State to carry out this practice, as explained by the Environmental Manager of the Rio Verde Foundation, Rangel Rui Portela. "Today our plant is one of the five largest in the State with the disposal of more than 1.300 tons of empty packaging, whether for recycling or incineration", stated Rangel.
"The Campo Limpo System in which Fundação Rio Verde and Cearpa are part is based on the principle of shared responsibilities, between all links in the production chain, be they farmers, manufacturers, distribution channels and with the support of the Public Power to carrying out the reverse logistics of empty agricultural pesticide packaging", added the Environmental Manager.
After two years of virtual celebrations, National Clean Field Day (DNCL) is once again in person. The Rio Verde Foundation's week of events begins on August 09th, where School and University Action takes place throughout the week, a circuit of lectures and workshops that will be held within the teaching units, providing information about the work carried out to elementary, high school and university students.
Open Doors day takes place on August 16, where the Empty Packaging Receiving Center welcomes the population to be shown how the unit works and what its role is in the reverse logistics process for empty packaging that is carried out in the Campo Limpo System.
Also on August 16th, three trees will be planted at the Reception Center, symbolizing the three outstanding producers of 2022.
On August 18, representatives from Fundação Rio Verde participate in the official ceremony of National Clean Field Day in São Paulo (SP). In the capital of São Paulo, the ceremony will take place at the Andav Congress – National Association of Agricultural and Veterinary Input Distributors, which represents around 2 agricultural input distributors in the country.
