Sicredi makes R$50,6 billion available for the 2022/2023 harvest
The expectation is to carry out around 272 thousand agribusiness promotion operations in the new cycle
The 15th National Bioenergy Congress takes place from July 6th to 7th, in Araçatuba, SP, and brings together professionals from plants and distilleries, sugarcane suppliers, researchers and professionals from the sector's supply chains. In this edition, 12 thematic rooms will be available, covering everything from subjects related to agricultural, industrial and cultural management, to sustainable production; the latter topic being covered in the Environment and Sustainability Room.
Several professionals will discuss issues that can affect the environment and how the use of good practices helps to minimize negative impacts. Embrapa Meio Ambiente researcher Nilza Patrícia Ramos, who coordinates the project “Development of a methodology for evaluating and rewarding environmental relevance related to good agricultural and industrial practices adopted in the Bioenergy sector”, in partnership with the National Bioenergy Union (UDOP), will participate in this debate addressing the topic of the importance of encouraging and disseminating environmental practices.
Nilza Patrícia mentions that several sugarcane producing units have started to adopt more sustainable practices in recent years, and that this is very positive. This is because good practices can avoid increases in greenhouse gas emissions, for the greater preservation of natural resources, including areas of natural vegetation and the use of water, without affecting agricultural and industrial yields.
However, according to the researcher, these positive results are still difficult to be perceived by society in general, due to the specific language of disclosure, aimed at the agricultural sector, or because they are not widely disseminated. Thus, "more comprehensive dissemination actions are essential both to inform society about the good practices that have already been adopted, and to expand their uses in other production units", she emphasizes.
"The UDOP/Embrapa project to award good environmental practices was created precisely to partially reduce this deficiency, using a specific methodology to quantify and rank the environmental relevance of these practices. In 2021, the 1st edition of this award was a success , with the participation of more than 33 projects, with 4 winners being selected, whose good practices were publicized in various media, in order to reach different audiences and not just the agricultural sector. Bringing these advances to society's attention encourages adoption not only in the sugarcane sector, but also in other areas of bioenergy", highlights Nilza Patrícia.
The researcher will talk about the subject in the last panel of the Environment and Sustainability Room, which will be moderated by Renan Bazzo, environmental and Occupational Safety engineer at Diana Bioenergia, with the talk "The importance of encouraging and disseminating environmental practices" , followed by the lecture "Green Finance: Payment for Environmental Services (PSA)", with Giovana Araújo, partner at KPMG.

Held for two years in a virtual format, due to Covid-19, the largest technical congress in the bioenergy sector in Brazil returns to an in-person format with the expectation of receiving more than 1.500 delegates. There will be more than 120 hours divided into 80 panels distributed in 12 thematic rooms and a Magno Panel, with around 250 speakers and debaters.
