MWM and Volkswagen renew partnership for engine manufacturing

Under MWM manufacturing, more than 200 MAN engines have been manufactured to equip VW brand commercial vehicles

MWM, manufacturer of engines and power generating sets, and VW Caminhões e Ônibus, celebrate the renewal of an agreement for the assembly, by MWM, of the MAN D08 and MAN D26 engines that equip VW buses, medium-duty, semi-heavy and extra-heavy trucks .

By celebrating 10 years of using MAN engines in its commercial vehicles, VW Caminhões e Ônibus confirms its confidence in MWM's logistical and operational competence and renews the agreement for the assembly, on MWM's premises, of MAN D08 and MAN D26 engines.

The new agreement will be valid until December 2027.

Under MWM manufacturing, more than 200 MAN engines have been manufactured, equipping VW brand commercial vehicles that travel throughout Latin America and Africa, also exported to Asia.

Manufacturing Contracts

With 30 years of experience in manufacturing contracts, and proven competence and operational and logistical excellence in manufacturing contracts, MWM meets the strictest quality requirements of its customers.

The scope offered by MWM includes assembly of subcomponents and engines, machining of blocks and heads, management of the entire supply chain leaders, support for locating parts and components, integrated and real-time management of the technical change process, product engineering support for continuous improvements, approval of engines with government agencies, co-management for cost reduction activities, obtaining licenses for operation, availability and flexibility in manufacturing facilities, in short, total management of the operation.

Installed in the MWM manufacturing park in Santo Amro, São Paulo, the MAN D08 and MAN D26 engine assembly lines rely on processes already recognized as industry 4.0 concepts, technologies such as systems integration, IoT, simulations, augmented/virtual reality, additive manufacturing and Cybersecurity, ensuring a high technological level and quality controls for processes and products.

There are 41 years of partnership with VW Caminhões e Ônibus, which, in addition to the successful contract for the location, operational management and manufacturing of MAN engines, also includes participation in the modular consortium in Resende since the founding of that site”.
