Integration of agricultural activities with beekeeping and meliponiculture
Bees and agricultural activity can and should coexist in balance, with mutual benefits
The multisite soybean market segment was created by UPL as a solution for farmers to maintain high productivity levels, mainly in situations of resistance to rust and target spot, and to the main site-specific fungicides used in the market.
"Market adoption of the use of multisite fungicides in soybeans has increased significantly in the last three harvests. The main brand in this category is the fungicide Unizeb Gold, which acts in six different sites, that is, six different points of the fungi's metabolism. This This characteristic considerably reduces the possibility of resistance", says the fungicide manager at UPL Brasil, Fernando Arantes.
The dreaded Asian rust – caused by the fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi – is in fact the most aggressive, but other diseases, such as target spot (Corynespora cassiicola) have been growing in relevance in recent years, as has the complex of diseases that occur in the crop. Losses caused by the disease complex can exceed 40% of production, according to research. There are reports of losses exceeding 80% of productivity.
"Present in the country for around 20 years, Asian rust causes dark 'spots' on the leaves during the initial phase. As the fungus reproduces, the leaves fall prematurely and the general development of the plant is compromised, as the grains become small and do not become mature. Even more serious, the abortion of the pods in formation can lead to the total loss of production", explains Fernando Arantes.
With the multi-site fungicide Unizeb Gold, leader in the category, now, with the recently launched multi-site fungicide Tridium, UPL promises to ensure maximum protection from the beginning of the crop (pre-closing between rows), extending until the harvest phase with Unizeb Gold associated with a site-specific fungicide. In six harvests, the fungicide has already successfully treated more than 115 million hectares. "In research, we found that 98% of farmers who use Unizeb Gold visually demonstrated more efficient management of the main diseases and, consequently, increased productivity in their crops, which is our main objective", highlights the fungicide manager at UPL.
Farmers gained a new ally with the launch of Tridium, a multisite that allows farmers to protect their crops from the beginning, obtaining greener, more efficient and productive plants. "Dedicated to innovation, UPL is committed to intelligent management with this solution intended for use in the pre-closing of soybean lines", informs Fernando Arantes.
"UPL's multisite fungicides differentiate themselves by offering maximum protection, as they act efficiently in the management of resistance, in addition to allowing farmers to produce more and more in a safer and more sustainable way – ideals that are the basis of our credibility in food production chain. We invest in innovation to benefit the planet's food security", concludes the fungicides manager at UPL.
