Event brought together 90 seed multipliers from the main producing regions in Brazil to discuss challenges and perspectives of the seed market
Corteva Agriscience promoted the 2022 Multiplier Forum this Tuesday, June 21, in Campinas. The meeting brought together multipliers and experts to discuss the challenges, perspectives, opportunities and the future of the seed market in Brazil, with emphasis on the areas of seed treatment and biotechnology.
“We are very happy with another edition of the Multipliers Forum. Promoting the union of the chain, the exchange of experiences and the debate on the main themes of the sector is fundamental for the evolution of the seed market in the country”, says Christian Pflug, director of Seed Enlisting and Treatment at Corteva Agriscience.
The meeting discussed issues such as the seed production scenario in the South and Cerrado regions, the use of biological products and the future of the seed market considering the consolidation of the industry and distribution. Furthermore, he showed an overview of Corteva's Seed Treatment area and highlighted the benefits and results of the Enlist® System, which combines high-performance genetics with the best management of weeds and caterpillars.
News in Seed Treatment and results from the Enlist system were highlighted at the event
SEED TREATMENT
One of the novelties for seed treatment was the launch of a package of solutions based on the combination of products, services, programs and people, which includes the Seed Treatment Technology Center (CSAT). The program brings several advantages and incentives for distributors and multipliers.
In addition, Corteva announced for the next two years the expansion of the TS product portfolio, which currently includes the Dermacor insecticide, for corn, cotton and soybeans, and the Rancona T fungicide, for soybean crops, launched in 2014 and 2018 respectively. For 2023, the biological nematicide Lumialza will be launched, with six months of shelf life and compatibility with other chemical products used in the TS. It will have records for the three main species of nematodes: meloidogyne, pratylencus and heterodera. For 2024, the launch of the LumiTreo fungicide is planned, with three active ingredients, two of which are new. “This will guarantee the control of eight diseases, covering soil, seed and initial foliar diseases, with emphasis on Phytophthora and Sclerotinia”, explains seed treatment marketing manager, Dante Queiroz. The two launches will be exclusive for industrial seed treatment.
ENLIST
The Enlist system gained prominence with the presentation of the results achieved in crops that used the technology in the 2021/22 harvest. More than two thousand producers, in 550 areas, totaling 5.530 hectares, applied what Corteva calls a complete experience, which is the combination of Enlist E3, Conkesta E3 and Enlist Colex-D technologies. The results showed an average increase of 11 bags/hectare in crops in Mato Grosso; 12,6 bags in Goiás and the Federal District, where crops reached up to 103,7 bags/hectare; and 15,1 bags/h in Minas Gerais, with areas reaching 108,7 bags/h.
The event also presented an economic and political panel for 2022, with the participation of economist Ricardo Amorim, and sought to reinforce the importance of multipliers for Brazilian agribusiness and recognize the main partners. “The multiplier plays a fundamental role in producing, benefiting and maintaining the quality of seeds. He forms the link between research and the availability of new technologies in practice and is responsible for transforming a small amount of seeds into a volume that can meet market demand”, adds Christian.
