With the expectation of reaching 8 million tons this year, the wheat harvest faced difficulties due to climatic factors. Despite this, farmers who invested in technology and chose to use performance products in soil nutrition noticed the results of their choice. The MicroEssentials line from Mosaic Fertilizers, for example, increases the wheat harvest by more than four bags per hectare.
The product's differential lies in the Fusion technology, which provides the combination, in a single granule, of ammonia nitrogen, two forms of sulfur and highly solubility phosphorus. The exclusive formulation results in uniform distribution of nutrients in the initial stage of cultivation – when the productive potential of the crop is defined.
“The assertive choice of fertilizer will guarantee an increase in tillering, an increase in the number of ears and sufficient nutrients to fill the grains. MicroEssentials releases sulfur gradually, from emergence to harvest. This is possible thanks to the two forms of sulfur present in the product - part immediate release and part gradual release”, explains Flávio Bonini, Product Manager at Mosaic Fertilizers, one of the largest producers of combined phosphates and potassium.
Tests carried out in 68 demonstration fields, from 2017 to 2020, proved that MicroEssentials offers an average increase in productivity of 4,6 bags per hectare. Previously carried out, in the period from 2009 to 2018, a total of 103 wheat fields also received and presented supplementation of 4,2 bags per hectare when compared to the use of a conventional fertilizer.
Investing in management that provides greater productivity and quality from the beginning helps the crop maintain high performance and is less impacted by environmental conditions. “Choosing a fertilizer that brings technology into its composition provides better operational performance and countless gains. Mosaic Fertilizers is committed to Brazilian farmers, and is the company that invests the most in technology and offers the most complete portfolio on the market”, highlights Bonini.
According to estimates by the National Supply Company (Conab), in the 2021/2022 harvest, Brazil should produce more than 8 million tons of wheat, a volume 31,4% higher than the 2020/21 harvest. The prospect of cultivated area is 2,7 million hectares, an increase of 15,6% compared to the last harvest. Planting the cereal in Brazil must follow the recommendations of the Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning (ZARC) for the crop and varies according to the region of the country.
