Responding to requests from the producer class, especially those who produce corn in the state of Mato Grosso, the 200st Mato Grosso Agricultural Research Support Foundation, MT Foundation, was held. There were two days of technical lectures, debates, interaction and knowledge involving specific topics in corn cultivation. Around XNUMX people, including rural producers, agronomists and agricultural technicians participated in the event, which featured nationally renowned speakers from important research and business institutions in Brazil.

The municipality of Sorriso, located in the northern region of Mato Grosso, was chosen to host the first edition of this event as it represents 3% of corn production in Brazil, the largest production in the state which, together with other municipalities, such as Nova Mutum and Nova Ubiratã, gives MT the title of largest corn producer in the country, with 32% of the total production of the 18/19 harvest.

“Once again, Fundação MT innovates by holding a specific event to deal with corn cultivation, within the production system, by meeting the desires of the producer and technical class for information focused on the production of second-crop corn within the conditions of Mato Grosso and that can help with decision-making. Once again, Fundação MT brings the results to life and, together with its guests, presents positions on the main corn issues. This was the first of many technical meetings, just like those we have already held on soybean and cotton crops”, stated the technical director of Fundação MT, Leandro Zancanaro.

During the two days of the event, data and information were presented on production costs, the corn market, the impact of installing ethanol plants, corn ecophysiology, corn productivity, management and fertilization within the soy/corn system, insect management, burned grains, among other specific subjects.

“Expectations for the event were met. The public asked for this event and attended en masse to see, listen, talk, ask questions and debate with the event's technical team about bottlenecks and challenges in corn cultivation. By further promoting this dissemination of technology, the MT Foundation shows that it remains side by side with the producing class and monitors the needs of everyone who produces food. This event was the first of many and will continue to be held in Sorriso, after all it is a municipality that belongs to the region that produces the most corn in Brazil”, said Zancanaro.

The 1st Corn Technical Meeting of the MT Foundation was held at the Celeiro do Norte Agricultural and Industrial Cooperative (Coacen) and had the support of several sponsors and partners, including the Matogrossense Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), linked to the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of Mato Grosso (Famato), FS Bionergia and Coacen.
