Bean sowing is complete in most of Rio Grande do Sul
Soybeans have encountered difficulties due to the uneven distribution of rainfall
With growth in the movement of wood chips, polyethylene and cellulose, the Port of Rio Grande ended the period from January to October with a total of 35.295.995 tons in cargo loading and unloading operations, considering the productivity of both the public dock and the terminals located in the Superport area.
Operations involving wood chips registered an increase of 12,21%, reaching 860.998 tons. Polyethylene had an increase of 9,06%, reaching 552.285 tons. The movement of cellulose, the raw material for paper, varied positively by 7,29%, totaling 3.100.520 tons.
Container movement also grew in the accumulated ten months compared to the same period last year. In 2023, 516.855 TEUs were moved, while in 2024 the number rose to 652.655 TEUs, representing an increase of 26,27%. June was the month with the highest movement, when 77.432 TEUs passed through the complex.
Imports through the Port of Rio Grande came mainly from China (1.445.897 t), Argentina (1.267.116 t), Russia (749.908 t), Morocco (647.810 t) and Canada (574.031 t). Exports went to China (9.054.117 t), Iran (914.194 t), Vietnam (880.674 t), the United States (768.473 t) and the Philippines (727.876 t).
In Pelotas, the movement of logs reached 839.361 tons. Next, clinker, the raw material for cement, stands out with 132.549 tons, and soybeans, with 10.735 tons. Together, these shipping operations totaled 982.645 tons.
In Porto Alegre, of the total of 592.446 tons moved, fertilizer cargo accounted for the largest share, reaching 271.473 tons. In second place was wheat, with 200.840 tons. The third most moved cargo was barley, which reached 57.742 tons. Beef tallow occupied the fourth position, with 25.877 tons.
Together, the three Portos RS units reached 36.871.086 tons, figures that demonstrate the consolidation of Rio Grande do Sul's ports in the post-flood period, even in the face of the natural challenges imposed by the impacts of the climate phenomenon.
